CameraMount CM-M

The gimbal CameraMount CM-M is well suited to stabilize cameras such as for example a Panasonic Lumix GH-4 in order to allow for video footage entirely lacking camera shake. The mount can be used in three different ways.

If attached to a manual operating device this gimbal lets you create videos that could otherwise only be possible through usage of costly camera sliders or slewing cranes. In this configuration this gimbal is very similar to a Steadycam.

Mounted beneath a copter such as for example our AirFrame AF6-800 of the 2- or 3-axes make, this gimbal will allow you to create sensational aerial photographs of the very highest quality.

Together with an ordinary camera tripod it can be used to take panorama or gigapixel photographs as well as record scenes with a pre-programmed pan shot.

The modular concept enables us to adapt our gimbals exactly to our customers' wishes and requirements while still having our focus lie on lightest possible weight as well as ensuring a nonetheless stable design.

This gimbal can be purchased in four different base versions.

2-axes-gimbal with a motor in the horizontal (pitch-) axis

Suitable both for installation on a copter and manual operation. A pitch motor will be sufficient if the camera is of a more lightweight variety that is ideally positioned in relation to the center of gravity. The cutting back on two motors ensures that this gimbal is extremely lightweight. This version of our gimbal has the lowest power consumption.

2-axes-gimbal with two motors in the horizontal (pitch-) axis

Suitable both for installation on a copter and manual operation. If the camera you are using is heavier or if it is not ideally positioned in relation to the center of gravity you will need two motors to support it. Depending on the type of camera it may or may not be positioned closer to the center.

3-axes-gimbal with a motor in the horizontal (pitch-) axis

Suitable for installation on a copter and a camera tripod as well as manual operation. A pitch motor will be sufficient if the camera is of a more lightweight variety that is ideally positioned in relation to the center of gravity. Once installed on the copter the gimbal can be moved completely independently. Different modes allow for operation by one- or two-man operation. Mounted on the manual operation device the third axis allows for a follow-mode in which the camera mount adjusts itself more or less quickly or damped to the movements of the manual operation.

3-axes-gimbal with two motors in the horizontal (pitch-) axis

Suitable for installation on a copter and a camera tripod as well as manual operation. If the camera you are using is heavier or if it is not ideally positioned in relation to the center of gravity you will need two motors to support it. Once installed on the copter the gimbal can be moved completely independently. Different modes allow for handling by one- or two-man operation. Mounted on the manual operation device the third axis allows for a follow-mode in which the camera mount adjusts itself more or less quickly or damped to the movements of the manual operation. Even though a gimbal of this type uses four motors the complete take-off weight of copter and gimbal in maximum configuration still falls below 5kg. (please refer to AirJib AJ6-800)

After making a decision for one of these four base versions it always remains a possibility to expand upon or partly dismantle the gimbal. Appropriate conversion kits allow for rebuilding from one version into another.

Conversion kit from one pitch-motor to two pitch-motors

The pitch-motor iPower GBM4008-150T on the one side and the swivel joint on the other side are both being replaced by two pitch-motors iPower GBM4006-150T.

Conversion kit from two pitch-motors to one pitch-motor

The two pitch-motors iPower GBM4006-150T are being replaced by a pitch-motor iPower GBM4008-150T on one side and a swivel joint on the other. It remains at your own discretion whether the pitch-motor will be installed on the left and the swivel joint on the right or the other way around.

Conversion kit from two axes to three axes

The installation of an additional revolvable joint with an iPower GBM5208-150T motor allows for the rotation of the gimbal around the yaw axis.

Conversion kit from three axes to two axes

If the yaw axis has to be retroactively relinquished, for example due to weight issues, the revolvable joint with the iPower GBM5208-150T can be replaced with rigid adapter.

To install the camera on the gimbal we offer two mounting systems. One possesses an 18 x 18mm breadboard for direct attachment of the absolute position transducer, the other allows for attachment of the transducer with for example double-faced adhesive tape.

You can furthermore choose between two devices for the attachment of a BaseCam SimpleBGC 32bit Controller. One is intended for use on the standard version of the Controller with a breadboard of 45 x 45mm, the other for the 'tiny' version with a breadboard of 41.5 x 20mm. Both devices can either be directly attached to the gimbal's frame above the roll motor or in case of a 3-axes gimbal just underneath the yaw motor.

Every basic version of our gimbals comes with variably adjustable extension arms on which the pitch motor or swivel joint is mounted. It is however possible to retroactively install extension arms with set lengths depending on the weight of the camera used. Aside from a minimal reduction in weight what makes this version so attractive are mainly aesthetic reasons. We offer extension arms with a center distance of either 95, 100, 105 or 110mm.

To attach the gimbal to the copter, the camera tripod or the manual operation device you will need to use a connecting component which we offer in two different lengths. When using the gimbal in combination with a copter the longer version will allow for a slightly larger pan shot upwards without the copter arms accidentally entering the frame.

A specialized adapter allows for the mounting of the gimbal on a camera tripod with a 1/4” screw thread.
